Tesla’s Chinese Model Y Just Got New Ambient Lighting And Wheels

Tesla has updated the Model Y in China, adding new changes that bring it more in line with the recent Model 3 refresh.

The updated Model 3 arrived recently after months of leaks but the updated Model Y is much less of a design overhaul. As such it isn’t a refreshed model but instead has some tweaks including a tweaked dashboard with the addition of RGB ambient lighting, similar to that of the Model 3.

Another addition is new wheels, with the Model Y now coming with 19-inch black Gemini wheels which also improve the Model Y RWD’s range by around five miles, as Not A Tesla App notes.

Other changes include more range for the Dual-Motor AWD Long Range version which gained 428 miles of range, while the performance has also increased as well. The report also notes that Tesla China is trying to get people to buy new cars before the end of the month.

In a bid to give new customers added incentives, Tesla China also announced that up until October 31, a referral bonus would also be in play. By leveraging the referral program, new Tesla buyers can get a discount on their final payment and enjoy a 90-day trial period of Enhanced Autopilot.

While some of these upgrades are similar to the Model 3, many of that car’s upgrades are missing. There are no ventilated seats or new suspension, nor is there the much-requested blind spot warning, either.
