Tesla drivers can reportedly look forward to a Full Self-Driving upgrade, but it might not be the one you’re expecting. According to a new report, Tesla is set to switch to Unreal Engine for the software that displays its FSD capabilities on-screen.
Tesla hacker called Greentheonly has discovered that the company is working on updating Autopilot and FSD with the new engine.

The feature isn’t live just yet, but it’s apparently already part of the MCU 3 firmware for the Model S and Model X vehicles. The move to Unreal Engine will see Tesla ditch the current open-source Gadot engine.
The hacker has apparently already been able to activate some of the new visuals, with improved and smoother vehicle models already notable, as can be seen by his post X below:
Ok, I am having a bit of trouble getting unreal engine to activate on the cluster, but it looks like on the main screen the car avatar is also controlled by it.
Now you can interact with it and it’s getting somewhat more detailed.

The new engine could bring other improvements to the Tesla in-car experience, including new 3D maps and more. There is no telling when the new look will be made live for everyone, unfortunately, but it does seem to be in the works.
