Tesla Announces 6-Seat Model Y L

Tesla’s Chinese Weibo page has shared the first images of a new, six-seat version of the Model Y electric vehicle, with more details being made available in the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s (MIIT) regulatory catalog.

The new vehicle was announced on Weibo as the Model Y L alongside images which appear to show just how much more space the long wheel base has given the vehicle when compared to the standard model.

The MIIT listing for the new model lists it as being 4,976 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,668 mm high. A wheel base of 3,040 mm was also confirmed.

For comparison, the current Model Y measures 4,797 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,624 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.

The model used to show off the refresh was a Model Y L dual motor offering with peak power outputs of 142 kW and 198 kW for the front and rear motors.

As for pricing, it’s expected to sell for around RMB 400,000 ($55,764), but as of right now, there has been no confirmation that this variation of the Model Y will go on sale in other countries. We also don’t know where the EV will be built, either, and that might give us a clue as to future launch countries.
