Star Wars Movies Finally Available For Digital Download This Week

After decades, the Star Wars movies are being geared up for a digital launch, where all six titles will soon be available on digital video services such as iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Instant Video and Xbox Video across the globe. According to Disney and LucasArts, fans will be able to grab the movies starting April 10. Head over the jump for further information on this exciting new development.

With the emergence of this news, the Star Wars blog has announced that the release of these six movies has been revealed at a time where anticipation builds for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“As anticipation builds for the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first new film in the Star Wars saga in a decade, The Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and 20th Century Fox today announced the upcoming release of The Star Wars Digital Movie Collection.”

Fans will be able to grab digital HD versions of the movies individually, or as an entire digital collection of the Star Wars saga. All six of the titles will include bonus content which would include documentaries, interviews with production staff, deleted scenes, and a closer look at a movie set and character models as well.

“Enhancing the movie collection are a host of never-before-seen special features including Star Wars: Discoveries from Inside and insightful Conversations between key contributors from across this celebrated film franchise, plus a curated collection of classic Star Wars extras from each film.”

It has also been revealed that digital stores like Xbox Video will give you the chance to earn a digital R2-D2 to go with your avatar on the console’s interface, a pinball table for the free-to-play Pinball FX 2, and access to an Xbox-only featurette.

So how much will the movies – or the entire collection – cost on our tablets or smartphones?

On the Google Play Store, the entire Star Wars movie bundle will be available for $89, while each movie would cost $19.99 individually. On iTunes, you can grab the individual title for $19.99. However, other digital stores are yet to announce their pricing and promotional plans.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will be the 7th movie in the saga and is coming out after almost a decade since Episode III Revenge of the Sith. The movie is set to be released in cinemas in the U.S. on the 18th of December 2015.
