Smaller iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island May Have Just Leaked

Amid ongoing rumors that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro will use a smaller Dynamic Island than previous models, a new leak may have given us our first look at the change.

An image shared on the X social network by leaker @UniversIce reportedly shows the iPhone 18 Pro’s display alongside one taken from the iPhone 17 Pro.

The image clearly shows that one of the areas for the Dynamic Island is noticeably smaller than the other.

This leak comes after a similar one by @earlyappleleaks, suggesting that there are now iPhone 18 Pro displays floating around somewhere.

The new, smaller Dynamic Island is thought to be a result of Apple moving some of the Face ID technology beneath the display, removing the need for a cutout.

By making the Dynamic Island smaller, Apple could also change the way it works on iPhone 18 Pro devices. All Dynamic Islands are a combination of physical holes in the display and software that moves to display data around those holes.

Apple isn’t expected to officially announce the iPhone 18 Pro until this September, likely alongside the first foldable iPhone. In that case, the mid-range iPhone 18 won’t be announced until early 2027, likely alongside the budget-oriented iPhone 18e.

With that in mind, it’s still likely to be a number of months before we get to see exactly what Apple has been working on. Until then, we can expect more leaks that hint at the changes to come.
