Apple’s iPhone Duo was made available for preorder earlier today, selling out almost instantly, with delivery now not expected until 2027 for those ordering late.
But demand seems to be high enough that at least one person has been willing to spend $5,000 on an iPhone Duo preorder via eBay.

The iPhone Duo in question is a Night Sky model with 2TB of storage, which would sell for $3,199 when bought directly from Apple. That means the buyer is willing to stump up a premium of $1,800 just to not have to wait until January for their new foldable.
However, it’s important to remember that there is no confirmation that this bid is legitimate or that the buyer has any intention of following through with the purchase.
This is far from the only eBay auction for an iPhone Duo, though. A similar eBay listing, reported by MacRumors, is for a Night Sky model with 1TB of storage. Supposedly sold for $4,400, this configuration would usually sell for $2,599, which is again a $1,800 premium for the eBay buyer.
Buying an iPhone Duo from the online Apple Store currently shows an expected shipping date of January 25, more than three months from today. Whether or not those three months are worth the $1,800 premium remains to be seen.
