Following reports that Apple intends to launch the iPhone 18 next year rather than this year, a new report has backed up that claim as Apple shakes up its release windows.
Apple usually releases its premium and flagship iPhones in September, but this year is set to be slightly different. Instead, the iPhone 18 isn’t expected to debut until spring 2027.

Those waiting for the iPhone 18 Pro won’t have to wait quite so long, though, with that model and the iPhone 18 Pro Max expected to maintain the usual September launch window. MacRumors cites a “growing number of reports” suggesting that 2026 will be the first year that Apple will deviate from its usual release cadence.
It’s thought that Apple is shaking things up in an attempt to deal with the increasingly complicated logistics surrounding iPhone launches.
Supply chain analysts have also pointed to manufacturing and logistics benefits as a factor behind the rumored shift. By spacing out launches, Apple could reduce production bottlenecks, better manage component supply for advanced technologies, and smooth revenue recognition across fiscal quarters rather than concentrating iPhone sales in a single period.
It’s also thought that Apple will debut the first foldable iPhone this September. The iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will then likely be released in the spring of 2027 for those who prefer a more budget-friendly device.
