Pepsi Is Making An Android Phone

It seems that the smartphone market appears to be such a booming and profitable industry to be in, that everyone wants to be a part of it; even those huge corporations with absolutely no prior knowledge of building hardware of any kind. According to a leaked set of information that’s coming out of China, the company behind the insanely popular Pepsi carbonated beverage, PepsiCo is looking to introduce an Android-powered smartphone into the market. Yes, you heard that right, Pepsi is making an Android smartphone.

The news comes in after an alleged discovery of a listing on a Chinese website that provides details pertaining to what could be the Pepsi P1 Android powered smartphone. If you happen to have an addiction to PepsiCo’s sugary sweet soda drink, and have been thinking of new ways that you can prove your loyalty to the company, then there’s probably no better way than to change your smartphone to whatever is finally announced. Based on the revealed and speculated specifications, it may not actually prove to be a bad investment.

The information that comes with the leak suggests that the Pepsi P1 would ship with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, putting it into the phablet category of devices. Consumers can expect to have a device that gains its power from a 1.7 GHz MediaTek processor that is accompanied by an acceptable 2GB of on-board RAM. There’s also a 13-megapixel rear camera with a 5-megapixel forward-facing smaller brother. There’s no word on whether or not the hardware will come with a microSD card slot, but it will have 16GB of internal storage.

The information also suggests that any Pepsi P1 device would come with Android Lollipop pre-installed and would retail for an extremely agreeable $205, putting it well and truly into the budget handset department. Any additional information on the purported device is currently nothing more than a mystery. We don’t know which hardware manufacture the company has partnered with to produce the device. We don’t even know when, or even if, the hardware will land in the Asian market, or whether or not it will ever be released beyond that region.

All we know is that it appears Pepsi is working on a budget Android device that actually looks relatively decent. Could Coca-Cola be next?
