OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Beta 2 Download Released On Dev Center

Apple looks to be ramping up its OS X 10.9 Mavericks fixing schedule, with OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 now in its second beta phase after the company made a new version available for developers to download for testing.

Mavericks 10.9.2 build 13C39 is now up on the Apple Mac Dev Center with Mac developers now able to download the build in order to make sure that their own applications work as intended.

The first beta seed of OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 was released over a month ago and features changes to Mail, Messages and other system-based services such as VPN access and Graphics Drivers. The new VoiceOver was also worked on in the first beta release. This new version however appears to have mainly focused on bringing an iOS 7 feature to the Mac in the shape of the ability to block people on iMessage and FaceTime.

OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 isn’t the only new beta release to land on the Apple developer portal today ether, with Safari 7.0.2 for Mavericks and Safari 6.1.2 for Lion/Mountain Lion also appearing. According to Apple it would like developers to focus on changes to such things as AutoFill, printing and emailing from within Reader and the dragging of tabs between multiple monitors. Extension compatibility is also improved, according to release notes.

Apple’s beta program is often a long and drawn out affair, but it does usually ensure that major bugs are worked out before anything finds its way into the public domain. Unfortunately that’s not always the case though, as Mavericks users found out when they tried to use the newly updated Mail app with Gmail.

If you’re not a developer we suggest you don’t try to install this beta even if you manage to get hold if it because, while it’s true that fixes should be abound in this update, other issues are often added in the process that might hinder the overall usability of your Mac as a daily driver. We’d rather suggest waiting until app developers have been able to test their own work with the update, too.

It is currently unknown when Mavericks 10.9.2 will be available to public and general consumption. But when it is announced, we will definitely inform our readers about it, so stay tuned for more updates.
