Apple has reportedly increased the number of vapor chamber cooling components that it has ordered from suppliers. The cooling components are expected to be used in the upcoming foldable iPhone, thought to be called the iPhone Ultra.
Writing on the Chinese social network Weibo, leaker Fixed Focus Digital claims that Apple has ramped up cooling component orders. They go on to say that the components are likely to be used in the iPhone Ultra as well as the 20th-anniversary iPhone that is expected to be announced in 2028.

This follows a previous report by the same leaker who had suggested that the foldable iPhone would feature an “impressive” vapor chamber for cooling.
A similar system is already employed inside the iPhone 17 Pro and uses water to transport heat away from the device’s chip.
The foldable iPhone is expected to be thin when opened, suggesting that Apple will need to find a way to make the most of any potential cooling system to avoid overheating. With that in mind, something like a vapor chamber would make sense.
The 20th-anniversary iPhone is also expected to feature a whole new design, suggesting Apple may again need to make the best of any cooling technology available to be used the new form factor.
