Xbox One is getting an update, and it’s exactly what the customers wanted (for the most part), incorporating a lot of changes that were asked for in last month’s Xbox feedback from the software giant. The update will include changes such as activity feed updates, expanded friends area on Home, mobile purchases and more, and we’ll tell you all about that right after the break.

The primary focus of the update seems to be the social feature sharing facilities that make it a lot easier to keep your friends abreast of your achievements in Xbox One gaming, amidst some other improvements. The first up is the Activity feed update, which basically makes the single-column feed longer and with more content. There’s text posting now, along with the ability to like posts and comment on them, akin to Facebook. Game clip sharing is also possible through this update, and notifications complete the package, keeping you up to speed with whatever your friends are posting, what they like from your feed and any comments that they might leave for you.

Then, the Friends area on Home is being expanded, allowing you a better overview of what they’re up to in their Xbox One lives. You’ll also get to see trends that are based on what your friends are playing, and leaderboards, which will showcase top achievements in your circle. Mobile purchases are included now as well, which basically allow you to purchase content on the go and your Xbox One will begin downloading immediately, without waiting for you to get home and initiate the purchase (assuming that your console is online, of course). This was one of the most requested features, and Microsoft is finally delivering.

The update also incorporates low battery notifications as well, alerting you to depleting power levels on your Xbox One controllers. On that front, notifications and alerts can now be disabled during video playback, ensuring uninterrupted experience when you need it the most.

Some other features include 3D Blu-ray playback, availability of the OneGuide in Brazil, Mexico, Austria and Ireland, and last seen status in Friends’ list. For a complete run down, you may visit the source link below.

The Xbox One update will begin rolling out to a select group right away, while the larger roll out will take place next month. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new update in the comments section below.
