Kodi 18 Beta 2 Has Been Released, Here’s What You Need To Know

If you’re a Kodi user then we have some more good news for you today with the second beta build of Kodi v18 now available for download.

The update, moving Kodi v18 codename Leia further along its development cycle, is mainly based on bug fixes and improving overall usability. That being said, the Kodi team does say that the current build has proven to be stable enough for use as a daily solution, although as always your mileage may vary here.

Fans of Kodi are already well aware of what the software has to offer, but for everyone else, Kodi is the media playback software that rose from the ashes of XBMC, an equally popular release. While there are competing products available these days, and Plex is arguably the most advanced, there is still a lot of love for Kodi not least because of its XBMC roots. This latest beta release continues the hard work that previous releases laid the groundwork for, with a full changelog available via the Kodi Wiki here for anyone wishing to dive into it.

For everyone else, the main thing to know is that there are a couple of notable fixes that you should probably be aware of when deciding whether to update.

Most notable fixes to mention in Beta 2 are EPG and PVR interface optimisations and Live TV related fixes. Further more there are some improvements regarding Bluray playback and menus. Of course there are several more changes which are listed on our github reposity found here: Beta2 changes.

Finally, the Kodi team isn’t saying when it expects to have Kodi v18 ready for primetime other than to say that the plan is to see how each beta release is received by those who test it. That seems reasonable to us, so if you do decide to give the beta a try, be sure to report any issues so that they can be fixed.
