Keyboard Buddy Adds A Physical, Backlit Keyboard To Your iPhone 5

If you are an iPhone 5 owner and looking for something that might enhance the sixth-generation hardware, then the Keyboard Buddy case might just be right up your street. The iPhone 5 dedicated case brings a fully-functioning keyboard that’s ergonomically designed and beautifully backlit.

The designers of the product have taken the time to attempt to craft an extremely thin and functional accessory that comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard that slips in and out of the accessory with minimal fuss. The Keyboard Buddy feels like a premium piece of kit thanks to the metallic shell that has been designed purely for the iPhone 5. As part of the official iPhone 5 presentation, we were shown the advanced engineering lengths they went to in order to create the new iPhone, meaning that accessories for the new hardware should feel sturdy and of high quality to compliment it and the Keyboard Buddy doesn’t fail to impress in any case.

The slide-out keyboard functionality itself is worthy of the price tag for some people, but the designers have included a little more by adding an onboard battery which holds charge for up to two weeks. The bundled battery can be charged through a micro-USB cable and should hold its power long enough to give the device a much needed boost in those times of need. The case itself doesn’t make use of the new Lightning connector, connecting to the device via Bluetooth that can be turned off easily to conserve power. It doesn’t actually intrude on the physical buttons that come as part of the iPhone 5 either, with the camera, volume and lock buttons being easily accessible.

With five rows of individually spaced keys, Bluetooth 2.0, a custom designed fit and backlit keys, the Keyboard Buddy should provide enough value for those users who require that old-school mechanical feeling of using a device that has physical buttons. Premium products do however come with a premium price, with the Keyboard Buddy costing a tidy $89.95 and shipping set to take place at the back end of this month.
