If you have come across iPhone Duo crackgate related posts and videos on social media and was wondering what Apple has to say about it, well the company has finally responded.
Over the past weekend, as many customers started receiving their iPhone Duo devices, we saw some users posting about inner display getting cracked after a pop sound when opening the device, and within hours, those photos and videos went viral all over the social media pages.

Apple has now responded in a statement given to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg:
The response to iPhone Duo from early users has been incredibly positive, and we are seeing exciting things from developers who are rapidly updating their apps to take advantage of its unique form factor. We are aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units. If users experience issues with their iPhone Duo display, they should contact AppleCare for a replacement.
Impacts a very small number of units and most iPhone Duo units are not susceptible to this inner display issue. Impacted devices appear to have the defects rather quickly after usage.
So there you have it. Seems like the issue is with a small bad batch of devices with faulty hinge rather than any design flaw. If you had the phone for a few days and nothing has happened, seems like you have a good unit and there’s nothing to worry about.
For those affected, head over to Apple Store for a free replacement.
