iPhone 18 Pro Could Launch In New Deep Red Color, iPhone Fold Sticks To Simpler Finishes

Apple is expected to announce its first foldable iPhone later this year, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro. Now, a new report may have detailed the new color that we can expect those iPhones to be offered in.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, writing in the weekly Power On newsletter, Apple is testing a new deep red finish that will be offered on both the iPhone Fold and iPhone 18 Pro series of devices.

This would be the first time that red has been offered as an option for Apple’s premium models, although the “deep” part of the name suggests that it will be more of a wine-like color than the familiar (PRODUCT)RED colors of previous iPhones.

Gurman also believes that previous reports of Apple working on brown and purple colors were actually a result of Apple testing different versions of the deep red finish. It would also likely build on the popularity of the orange finish that the current iPhone 17 Pro is sold in, too.

That’s why it’s so interesting that Apple is now considering a deep red color for its next lineup. Given the success of orange, I wouldn’t be surprised if the company keeps that option around and just adds the red as an additional choice. But red and orange might be a little too close on the color wheel to have both. We’ll see how this plays out exactly, but I can at least tell you that, as of now, red is the new flagship color in testing for the next iPhone Pros.

The iPhone Fold is expected to be announced in the fall of this year, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Those looking to buy the standard iPhone 18 look set to have to wait until the spring of 2027.
