Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro is expected to be announced next month, and a new report claims that it will borrow from the Apple Watch Ultra’s antenna design.
According to a post by leaker Majin Bu, citing an unnamed source, Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro will move the antenna to the rear of the device, wrapping it around the new camera bump.
According to my source, Apple is set to introduce a significant structural change in the iPhone 17 Pro: the repositioning of antennas around the rear camera module. This design choice mirrors the approach used in the Apple Watch Ultra, where antennas are strategically integrated to maximize reception and signal stability.
There are thoughts to be a few different reasons for this switch, starting with the fact that the iPhone would be more resistant to signal shielding.
Antennas that are based around the outside of an iPhone’s chassis are always going to be susceptible to interference by the owner’s hand, moving the antenna to the back of the iPhone would help prevent that.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro lineups in the middle of September, alongside a new Apple Watch Series 11 and a new Apple Watch Ultra model. We should see confirmation of the announcement date towards the end of August or in the early part of September.
