Looking to install the iOS 27 public beta 1 OTA update on your iPhone? Here are the details you need to follow to install the latest beta software on your device.
Apple announced the iOS 27 software at its WWDC 2026 event on June 8 and has been running a developer beta ever since. Now, it’s getting ready to run the public beta for the first time. You can get in on the act yourself, but you’ll need to be signed up in order to install it.

We also recommend that you only install this software on a device that you don’t rely on. While public betas are normally more stable than the early developer betas, bugs and problems are still to be expected.
If you do have a device to install the beta on, you’ll of course need to be signed up for the beta program.
Step 1: Head to beta.apple.com and choose the Sign Up button.
Step 2: Sign in with your Apple Account (previously called Apple ID)
Step 3: Read the Beta Software Program Agreement and press the Agree button if you agree to its terms.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions for your specific device.
On your iPhone, head to Settings > General > Software Update section of your iPhone. Tap on Beta Updates, and then select iOS 27 Public Beta.
Next, head to Settings > General > Software Update section and wait for the OTA update to show up. Once it does, tap on Download & Install to begin downloading and installing the OTA update.
We expect that the final iOS 27 software update will be released this September, likely alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
