iOS 26.2 Battery Life Drain Performance Tested

After the release of iOS 26.2 and iOS 18.7.3 to the public, a new video has put both updates to the test. With battery life drain a concern for many, the video tested to see how the two updates performed across a whole range of devices. And the results might be surprising.

YouTuber iApple Bytes tested the new updates on devices that were configured to 25% screen brightness with auto brightness disabled.

All of the test devices were configured with the same settings and connected to the same Wi-Fi access point to try to reduce variables, too. Then, the Geekbench 4 battery test was run to see how the updates affected the scores.

You can watch the video to see the full rundown of the tests and results, including plenty of graphs. However, what makes this particular round of tests so interesting is the huge range in results. An impressive battery benchmark score for an iPhone 13 was in contrast to a particularly poor score for the iPhone 15, for example.

If there’s anything that can be taken from that, it’s that you should definitely watch the video to see how your own device might fare.

These updates don’t include any big new features, but rather focus on fixing bugs and addressing security issues. For that reason alone, we recommend installing them even if it might affect battery life.
