Apple recently released the iOS 26.1 and iOS 18.7.2 software updates to the public. Both of the updates have already been put through their paces to figure out how they impact the iPhone’s battery life.
The iOS 26.1 update is available for all of Apple’s most modern devices, and brings with it some minor tweaks and improvements.

The iOS 18.7.1 update has been released for owners of older iPhones that aren’t supported by the newer iOS 26.x releases.
Now, YouTuber iAppleBytes has put the two updates through some testing across a range of old and new iPhones to see how owners can expect them to stack up in terms of battery performance. Those with older iPhones are particularly likely to notice any battery issues due to the age of the battery itself. That makes videos like this all the more worthwhile.
You can check out the full seven-minute video to get an idea of how your own iPhone is likely to fare when updated to either of these latest software updates. But on a basic level, it seems clear that iPhone batteries are likely to behave essentially the same as they did with the previous software installed.
With that said, we suggest updating to the latest versions available to you. You’ll not only get some small feature bumps but also all of the latest bug and security fixes, too.
