iPhone 17 series and iPhone Air might have a network disconnecting issue related to WiFi and CarPlay connection with a fix possibly coming for it in iOS 26.0.1. Here’s what we know about it so far.
As you may already know, iPhone 17 series (including iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max) and iPhone Air feature Apple’s new N1 wireless connectivity chip which supports WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread connectivity standards.

Now if you look around on social media, especially X and Reddit, there are many reports of users having disconnecting issue related to both WiFi and wireless CarPlay. Weirdly enough, some iPhone 17 (non Pro) and iPhone Air users who have reported these issues said that this issue only occurs when they are wearing an Apple Watch connected to their iPhone.
While not all users are having this issue, it seems to be related to a software bug rather than a hardware issue with Apple N1 chip.
Why we say that? This is because a user having this issue updated his iPhone to recently released iOS 26.1 beta 1 and since then he has found no such issue with his new iPhone. He reported his findings on Reddit:
I updated only my iPhone to the 26.1 B1. It’s only been 20 minutes, but under the same circumstances that my WiFi and Bluetooth would turn off and on, it has not. This means that Apple, either intentionally or unintentionally, fixed the issue. This also means this is very likely a software issue that can be patched.
I now also updated my watch to 26.1 B1. Still cannot reproduce the issue. Additionally, I use the “unlock with iPhone” feature. Everything held fine! Additionally, my AirPods are not dropping and Bluetooth has been fine.

Apple released iOS 26.1 beta 1 earlier this week with a number of new features and bug fixes, with a fix for this issue being one of them. With iOS 26.0.1 being tested in the wild already, we expect Apple to roll out a fix for this issue sooner with iOS 26.0.1 rather than waiting out for iOS 26.1 which might be a month away from release.
Apple will likely release iOS 26.0.1 update soon with bug fixes and patches being order of the day. We will of course let you know whenever the company releases the update. Stay tuned.
