If your iOS 26 running iPhone is getting slow or overheating, you may want to turn off Liquid Glass. Here’s how to go about doing that.
With iOS 26 final version now available, depending on which iPhone model you’re installing it on, you may feel that your iPhone has become slow and is also overheating in some cases.

In our experience, the likely culprit for this is the all-new Liquid Glass design effects that requires alot of CPU and GPU usage to render the effects. While Apple may optimize it further and improve performance come iOS 26.0.1 or iOS 26.1, for now at least on iOS 26.0, you may want to turn off these effects for improved performance.
Here’s what you need to do:
Turn Off Clear Icons

First up, do not use the new Clear icons on Home Screen. To turn off clear icons, tap and hold on your Home Screen till icons start wiggling. Then tap on Edit in top left corner, tap Customize and select Default instead of Clear option.
Turn On Reduce Transparency
Next, you need to turn on Reduce Transparency mode. To do this, head over to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > and toggle Reduce Transparency option to ON.

Depending on your iPhone model, this will definitely improve performance and CPU and GPU don’t have to push harder to achieve all these effects, causing slowness and overheating of the iPhone.
