After months of beta testing, Apple has officially confirmed iOS 26 final version release date.
Apple confirmed the news during its iPhone 17 announcement event on September 9. The announcement also confirmed that the iOS 26 Release Candidate update will be made available to developers and public beta testers today ahead of the final version which will be released on September 15 to the public.

Assuming that no issues are discovered, we can expect that the release candidate will also be the version of iOS 26 that is released to the public, too.
The iOS 26 software update brings with it a number of upgrades and changes, not least the addition of the new Liquid Glass design language. It brings with it the biggest change in the look and feel of the iPhone software in years, and will likely take some getting used to for many. Other improvements include new Apple Intelligence improvements, a new Games app, and more.
The September 15 release of iOS 26 will also be joined by the final release of iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, visionOS 26, tvOS 26, and watchOS 26.
All of Apple’s new software updates were announced during its WWDC event in June and have been in beta programs ever since. However, those who need their devices to work as reliably as possible may wish to wait until a future point update is released before making the jump to this round of software refreshes.
