Owners of iPhones will soon be able to watch videos via Apple CarPlay via iOS 26, although only when the vehicle is stationary.
That’s according to the company’s developer website which details the upcoming iOS 26 software update.

Apple announced iOS 26 during the WWDC opening keynote on June 9, but not all new features and details were unveiled. We’re now learning more about what users can expect, and the Apple Developer website has confirmed that CarPlay video support is on the way.
AirPlay video in the car enables people to watch their favorite videos from iPhone right on their CarPlay display when they aren’t driving. Integrate support for CarPlay with AirPlay video to enable this feature in your car.
The bad news is that Apple says that carmakers will need to add support for the feature, so it could take some time to roll out and even then, it might only be available on specific vehicles. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear that this feature will be limited to those vehicles that support Apple CarPlay Ultra, so those with the standard CarPlay should be OK.
Apple is currently putting iOS 26 through its beta program and is expected to release it to the public this coming September, likely alongside the new iPhone 17 lineup and updated Apple Watches.
