Will we see iOS 26 beta 9? Apple’s eighth iOS 26 developer beta is now available for download, and we expect perhaps one more release before the update is made available to everyone. And that means we shouldn’t expect much to change between now and then.
Apple is set to release the iOS 26 update to the world in September, and we suspect that it will release a final Release Candidate version within a few days.

That means that the version that is now being tested is likely to be the one that ships to everyone, barring some bug fixes here and there.
All we have to do is look to the previous beta programs to get a feel for where Apple is. Ignoring the fact that Apple is simply running out of time to get any more betas into the hands of testers, it’s clear that Apple generally releases eight betas per program.
That’s exactly the number we’ve seen for iOS 26 so far. It’s also the same number of betas that iOS 13 through iOS 18 saw, too.
There are outliers, of course. The iOS 12 beta program ran for 12 betas, but that’s unusual and unlikely to be repeated this time around.
If Apple sticks to its own history, we expect that it will release the Release Candidate version following the iPhone 17 unveiling that is set for September 9. Then the final version will likely arrive around week later, just before those new iPhones officially go on sale.
