Here’s why your Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max can turn pink and what you should do about it.
If you have an iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max that used to be a lovely shade of Cosmic Orange but is now more pink than anything else, there’s a good reason. And it’s to do with how you’re cleaning your iPhone.

Social media has been abuzz with people sharing photos and videos of their previously orange iPhone and an odd new pink look. The orange turns pink around the edges of the device and across its camera area, whereas the space around the Apple logo remains untouched.
There have been tons of people trying to get to the bottom of things online, and posts on Reddit might have the answer. It seems that people have been using peroxide-based cleaning solvents on their iPhones. And they really shouldn’t.
Hydrogen peroxide can compromise the oxide layer of the iPhone and, as a result, it changes color.
Apple does warn against using cleaning solutions that contain bleach or hydrogen peroxide when cleaning the iPhone 17 Pro, and now we know why.
Don’t use products containing bleach or hydrogen peroxide. Avoid getting moisture in any openings, and don’t submerge your iPhone in any cleaning agents. After disinfecting, wipe with a soft, slightly damp (with water), lint-free cloth.
Unfortunately, the process can’t be reversed and it’s unlikely that Apple will replace the device under warranty, either.
