Here’s How You’ll Watch Videos Via Apple CarPlay

A new video has been released that shows how Apple’s in-car video support will work when CarPlay is allowed to display movies, TV shows, and more.

Apple announced that it would add video support to CarPlay during its WWDC event in June 2025, but confirmed that it would only work while the vehicle is stationary.

For that reason, carmakers will need to add support for the feature. Ahead of that, Apple’s new iOS 26.4 beta includes the early workings for the new feature.

Using that beta, developer Thomas Dye has been able to unlock some of the CarPlay video features via a simulator, showing how the TV app may look when the feature officially ships to users. The interface is similar to the familiar Apple TV experience on other devices, although it’s possible that Apple could change things before the feature finally ships.

The developer was also able to show new interface elements that will allow video to be played even when there is no specific CarPlay app available. The feature, in its current iteration, appears to function in a similar way to AirPlay.

It’s still unknown when this new video-viewing feature will be available to iPhone owners around the world, however. With carmakers required to allow the feature, iPhone owners may be left waiting for specific companies to get on board.
