Google Chrome released. And the browser war begins!

Google Chrome

After backing Firefox for a few years, Google today revealed their own web browser named "Google Chrome" to combat with both Microsoft's Windows Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox. The link to download Google Chrome went live just a few hours ago and so can be downloaded from https://www.google.com/chrome

Last week Microsoft released Beta 2 of Internet Explorer 8 - the most standard-compliant version of IE to date. Here is what Microsoft has to say about their old nemesis entering browser market:

"The browser landscape is highly competitive, But people will choose Internet Explorer 8 for the way it puts the services they want right at their fingertips, respects their personal choices about how they want to browse and, more than any other browsing technology, puts them in control of their personal data online." - Dean Hachamovitch, General Manager, Internet Explorer Group

Earlier, screenshots had been leaked from the Google Chrome website which temporarily came online, which can be viewed here at Startup Meme. Now we’ve got our hand on Chrome and here is a pictorial tour of the browser:
