Apple has today released the beta versions of iOS 26.6.1 and iPadOS 26.6.1 to developers for testing. This comes as the company readies the update for release to the public.
These new updates come two weeks after the launch of iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6, and can only be downloaded by people who are registered as developers with Apple at this time.
That will surely change soon though — these updates are security fixes, and Apple is likely to want to get them onto iPhones and iPads the world over sooner rather than later.
Both updates can be downloaded via the usual Software Update mechanism in the Settings app, assuming the devices are signed into an Apple ID that is on Apple’s developer database.
The beta updates were made available for download on the same day that the fifth iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 betas were also made available for developers to download. This release came three weeks after the release of the third beta, with Apple seemingly skipping the fourth one entirely.
Apple is working to get both iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 ready for public consumption.
They’re set to be made publicly available this fall, likely alongside the release of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. We expect more betas to be released as we edge closer to that big public release.
Update: Apple has also released macOS 26.6.2 beta.
