Wallpapers From Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Available For Download

Believed to be called the Google Nexus, or Nexus Prime, depending on who you believe, the new handset will be the first Google smartphone to sport the new Ice Cream Sandwich mobile operating system, complete with its redesigned user interface. Part of that new interface is, inevitably, a new set of wallpapers - wallpapers which have now found their way onto the internet, as these things tend to do.

The selection of wallpapers, all twelve of them, has been made available in a handy-dandy app so they can all be downloaded once. Said app is available via the source link given at the end, and is obviously free. And the best part? Its an APK file, which means; all the wallpapers are packaged in one place! In order to install the APK, make sure you can side-load apps apart from the Android Market, you can do so by pressing the menu button from the homescreen of your Android device, then tap on Settings > Applications and check the Unknown Sources box.

As tends to be the case with wallpapers, we're treated to an eclectic array of various colors and patterns, none of which really mean much in the grand scheme of things. There is also the obligatory leaf thrown in for good measure, too.

The Samsung Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus handset was expected to be announced by now, but Google delayed their event, supposedly as a mark of respect for the recently departed Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs. But now with iPhone 4S selling like hot cakes, it was unlikely for the two companies to delay their new flagship smartphone any longer, and so they have now decided to announce the said device and OS on October 19.

Google will also want to get Ice Cream Sandwich into the hands of developers, users and indeed hardware and carrier partners, as soon as humanly possible.

Until then, we'll all just have to make do with these, admittedly spiffy, new wallpapers. If you really want to make Samsung cry, you could even get your Android-toting friend to extract the images, and use them on your iPhone!

If the world implodes though, it wasn't my idea!

We’re getting to that time again, the time when the rumor-mill is in full swing, and talk of a new Google Nexus phone is already reaching fever pitch. It’s almost certain that Samsung will once again be the hardware partner of choice for the Android masters, despite the Nexus S not quite taking the world by storm.
