Design Sketch Leak Reveals Dimensions Of iPhone 7

A new sketch has made it into the public domain claiming to show the physical dimensions of Apple’s September-bound iPhone. With Apple set to introduce the iPhone 7 later in the year, the general public is clearly in the mood to try and learn exactly what’s going to be announced prior to the release of iOS 10. This latest iPhone 7 leak claims to show that Apple’s next-gen. phone will not deviate in physical size from the current iPhone 6s range from a height and width perspective. It does, however, leave the question open about the depth of the device, and whether or not the handset will have room for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The interesting thing about this latest chassis sketch leak is that it actually contains the @onleaks watermark across the image, suggesting that it does come with a little bit of validity. Of course, given the fact that it’s actually a very basic sketch, it wouldn’t take too much for someone to create this as part of a ploy to gain some attention. So with that in mind, take it all with a little pinch of salt until there’s some corroborating evidence to go along with it.

If you are a fan of the current model iPhone 6s range, and believe that this sketch is an official representation of the future, then you should be in for a pleasant upgrade. The image itself shows that the iPhone 7 will have the exact same height and width dimensions as the iPhone 6/6s that we already have. There’s no explicit notation or annotation that shows the depth of the device, which means that we can’t even begin to make any educated decisions on whether or not there is enough room for the device to ship with an integrated 3.5mm headphone jack, or for that matter, an additional speaker in place of it for a stereo-speaker setup.

Interestingly, the camera cut-out displayed on the sketch seems to corroborate previous speculation that the iPhone 7 will ship with a camera module with a slightly larger lens. The image seems to show that could be the case, but also seems to suggest that if the rumor about a dual-lens camera system is true, then it could be a feature exclusive to the larger iPhone 7 Plus model.

It’s great to see some additional leaks starting to filter through about Apple’s upcoming iPhone, but at this stage, they are starting to leave more questions unanswered. We’ll bring you more information about the iPhone 7 as it becomes available.
