Customize Certain iOS Animations On iPhone The Easy Way With ‘Animer’

The look and feel of iOS is generally smooth, but since Apple is in the habit of keeping changes and alterations fairly incremental between revisions of its mobile software, the way certain elements behave can become a little cumbersome. With famously little by way of customization, modifying the behavior of iOS is essentially a closed door, but if you participated in the recent Evasi0n jailbreak, you’ll be more than aware of the many alternative options at your disposal. Adding to the seemingly endless list of great tweaks comes Animer, which affords you the opportunity to rejuvenate your device somewhat by customizing certain animations.

iOS has been a solid ecosystem from day one, but it’s beginning to look as though Apple is playing things a tad too safe. OS X users may be happy with a couple of meager changes here and there once a year, but mobile consumers are famously more demanding, and iOS 6 has, as with previous iOS iterations, drawn some scrutiny for being samey, if not a tad bland.

Some will remain peeved about elements of iOS, but for those familiar with Cydia, such gripes tend only to last a matter of seconds before a tweak is discovered in the alternative App Store, built by Jay Freeman. The way banners, popup notifications, and the multitasking bar behave certainly fits nicely with other aesthetic aspects of iOS, but if you’re simply bored stiff of the way they do what they do, Animer offers all manner of customizations.

Once installed, the 99 cent tweak will allow you to add a bit of bounce here, a touch of fade there, and have your notifications presented to you in a manner which breaks from the tired rhetoric seen year-in, year-out. To put it in simpler terms; it allows you to customize banner notifications, alerts and the multitasking to the nth degree, but bear in mind it doesn’t allow the user to customize the animation that is shown the user when opening or closing an app. Check out the demo video below to see Animer in full flow:

You can configure it straight from the Settings app, and if you make any changes, you don’t even need to respring your device.

It can be purchased over at the BigBoss repo for, as mentioned before, $0.99, and although it only caters to three areas in banners, popup notifications and the multitasking bar, it offers a wide inventory of options for each.
