Canon EOS M10 Is A New Entry-Level Mirrorless Camera For Beginners

The world of photography can be an extremely daunting environment to enter for the novice. The majority of us these days are happy capturing photographs from our highly capable smartphone cameras, but what about when you want to take it to the next level? Things can start to get extremely confusing. Canon, one of the most well-known names in this arena, recently introduced a high-end EOS M3 mirrorless camera for the experienced shooter out there, and it has now complimented that hardware with the mirrorless EOS M10 camera, which is the company’s most portable mirrorless camera to date.

The EOS M10 is aimed at the entry-level market, with affordability and compactness at the heart of it. Canon recently announced that the EOS M3 would be offered to the American market in the coming months, and now it seems that there’ll be an additional option for those who are looking to get involved in photography without a huge financial outlay. Canon have built the EOS M10 with an 18-megapixel APS-C sensor, which is a pretty standard sensor found in entry-level Mirrorless and DSLR cameras. There’s also the inclusion of the company’s own DIGIC 6 image processor, Canon’s extremely fast and efficient processing chip that has been designed for seamless performance. It uses Hybrid CMOS AF II autofocus system.

In terms of shooting capabilities, the EOS M10 has a light sensitivity range from ISO 100 to 12,800 and is capable of full 1080p video, shot at 24, 25 or 30 frames-per-second depending on the operators choosing, and 720p at 60 or 50 fps. There are no slow-motion or UHD recording capabilities however, so you’ll need to fall back to your smartphone for that level of functionality if it’s something that you require. In terms of connectivity, the M10 will ship with complete Wi-Fi and NFC capabilities and have the ability to share captured photographs from a mobile app.

Aesthetically speaking the EOS M10 isn’t massively different from the more expensive EOS M3 variant. The hardware features everything that you would expect from a device of this nature, including easy-to-use dials to control much of the camera’s functionality, as well as a rubber grip to ensure safe use of the device. The rear of the camera is dominated by the 3-inch touchscreen with the standard menu and playback buttons that form part of any camera setup.

Anyone interested in this EOS M10 will be able to pick it up with an included 15-45mm lens package for $599.
