Black Ops II Pre-Orders Eclipse Those Of Modern Warfare III, Looks Set To Be Another Smash Hit

With the Call Of Duty franchise breaking its own incredible sales records in unprecedented fashion on an annual basis, many wondered – particularly given the regularity of releases – whether Call of Duty: Black Ops II would once again capture the imagination (or at least, the dollars), of consumers once again.

After all, every year without fail, Activision’s flagship title has created the kind of frenzy only usually seen when a new iPad or iPhone lands, with gamers willing to make like their iDevice-loving counterparts and queue for all hours to be among the first to get their hands on it.

But although Modern Warfare 3 wasn’t quite the clean sweep of records (after all, it still hasn’t outsold the original Black Ops), according to early statistics, there’s no doubt gaming fans are more than ready for another installment. According to a report by VentureBeat, reorders on Amazon for the first 24 hours following the game’s announcement have trounced that of Modern Warfare 3, with 30% more CoD fans flocking to the online retail giant in order to secure their copy.

Although, as we say, Modern Warfare 3 has yet to eclipse the sales numbers of its technical predecessor, it still managed to become the fastest-selling game in history, so it didn’t exactly do too badly. It says a lot when pre-orders are up by such a large margin, and with Microsoft launching a contract-based Xbox 360 console next week, there’s nothing stopping Black Ops 2 from claiming the all-time sales record from the original Black Ops title.

Taking into account also, that by the end of the pre-order phase, Modern Warfare 3 became the most pre-ordered game of all time, there’s strong scope for the latest Call of Duty title to break yet another record before it even manages to hit the stores on November 13th.

Pre-orders can be made right now on Activision, Steam, Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target, with an RRP of $59.99.

Will you be queuing once again outside your local store for the midnight launch? Or are you less excited about the prospect of another Black Ops, preferring the Modern Warfare series instead?
