Bigger Than Bigger: iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus Pre-Orders In China Top 20 Million Units

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders in China have hit the 20 million mark. Of course, as you read this, that number must be increasing, given the population size of the country and its undeniable interest in Apple products.

Just a week back, reservations of the iPhone 6 in the country were recorded at a whopping 4 million units, but as of latest, Chinese mobile carriers and the Jingdong Mall – China’s e-commerce website – have reportedly processed over 20 million pre-orders for the device.

China’s major carriers; China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom, have processed around 10 million pre-orders, with JD.com reporting to have received 9.5 million orders. The numbers from JD.com include both the iPhone 6 variants, but breaking it down, we find 4.7 million pre-orders for the iPhone 6 with the iPhone 6 Plus at 4.8 million. Interestingly, there’s no word on the pre-orders from Apple itself and its almost 6,000 sellers in the country, so we can speculate the figure to go drastically way above the 20 million mark.

With the support of the 3 major carriers that are now offering 4G speeds in supported areas, the Chinese market is seemingly set to transition from a developing market, to a thriving one for Apple’s products.

Given all these figures, it may not come as a real shocker if the Chinese consumer strength for the iPhone 6 surpasses that of the U.S. market. I say this in light of all the hyped up issues iPhone 6 had to counter, such as the Bendgate scandal and the obvious iOS 8 issues, with Apple pushing out some seriously botched updates. However in the face of all of this, the Chinese market seems to be undeterred and is eagerly awaiting to get their hands on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple seems to be well poised in the face of competition, given its success in the U.S. market, where the Galaxy Note 4 is still set to be launched on October 17th. As for the Chinese market, Apple seems to have taken up a pretty good seat as well, and we could be looking at another sales record for the iPhone.

We’re pretty certain that once the iPhone 6 goes on proper sale in China, Apple will surely release official numbers for the device. But until then, we have the unofficial ones to mull over.
