Apple’s Ultra-Thin iPhone Air Might Get A 2026 Update After All

Despite previous rumors, a new leak suggests that Apple’s super-thin iPhone Air will receive a refresh this year. It had been reported that the controversial iPhone would be on a two-year update cycle.

This leak, from Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital and via a MacRumors report, adds to their previous claim that the updated iPhone Air will launch this fall. That time period is already expected to see Apple announce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone.

However, those hoping for any big new features from the refreshed iPhone Air will likely be left disappointed. According to the leaker, the new version will have “very minor changes.” That might mean that hopes of the new model gaining a second camera will be dashed.

Hope does remain that there will be a future iPhone Air with two cameras, but it now seems unlikely to happen if the device is updated this year.

The single-camera design is one of the main things to have put potential iPhone Air buyers off the device. That, coupled with the smaller battery brought about by the thin design, has left the iPhone Air as a non-starter for some.

However, it’s important to note that other reports have claimed that the iPhone Air will not be updated this year. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had suggested that there would be no new iPhone Air in 2026.
