Apple’s To Begin iPhone 18 Trial Production In February 2027

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 in spring 2027, and a new report suggests that it will begin trial production this coming February.

The report, courtesy of the leaker Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, will see Apple begin early trial production runs once manufacturing levels return to normal following the Lunar New Year, towards the end of February.

In fact, the leaker believes that trial production lines have already been set up, suggesting that the hardware design for the Pro handsets is already decided. It’s expected that they will sport the same design as the outgoing iPhone 17 Pro.

This would also add further credence to the claim that Apple is ready to split the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Pro releases for the first time.

If accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro will be announced in the fall of 2026 alongside the first foldable iPhone. We can then expect the non-Pro model to be announced alongside the iPhone 18e in the fall of the following year.

In terms of specs, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to have a new A20 Pro chip with rumored support for an under-display Face ID system. Upgrades to the camera system and a new Apple-designed C2 model are also thought to be in the cards if the rumors are accurate.
