Apple has announced a limited-edition accessibility accessory for the iPhone, called the Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand. And at $70, it’s already sold out.
The phone grip and stand is the result of a collaboration between Apple and LA-based designer Bailey Hikawa. Apple says it’s to help celebrate 40 years of accessibility at the company, and it’s designed to attach to the back of an iPhone using MagSafe.

Once there, it can be easily removed and while in situ, it can be used as a stand that’s useful for different viewing angles. When in the hand, it can be used in a similar way to a PopSocket.
Designed with direct input from individuals with disabilities affecting muscle strength, dexterity, and hand control, this ergonomic grip was designed with accessibility in mind from the ground up. The grip uses magnets to securely snap onto any iPhone with MagSafe, can be removed with ease, and doubles as a stand to support iPhone at two different viewing angles, both vertically and horizontally.
The new accessory is also available in two different finishes, including a very noticeable Chartreuse. The other color is considerably less bright.
Inspired by modern sculpture, each Hikawa product is an art object unto itself. The limited edition Hikawa Phone Grip & Stand is available in two colors, a bold, high-visibility Chartreuse and recycled Crater, exclusive to Apple.
The accessory went up for sale on Apple’s website at $69.95, but that was a day or so ago. At the time of writing, it’s sold out, suggesting that there was a lot of demand. Here’s hoping that Apple offers a similar accessory for those who missed out on this limited-edition model soon.
