Apple’s Foldable iPhone Might Arrive In September After All

Despite reports that Apple’s first foldable iPhone would not ship until later in 2026, a new report suggests that it is still on course for a September release alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Pouring cold water on reports that the so-called iPhone Fold would be delayed until as late as December, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman now believes that the iPhone Fold will still go on sale “around the same time” or “soon after” the other fall 2026 models.

Previously, a Nikkei report claimed that Apple was dealing with engineering delays that could even push the iPhone Fold into 2027, but Gurman believes that is not actually the case.

However, Gurman had also recently said that the iPhone Fold would miss the September release window, so it’s possible that there are conflicting reports and a fluid situation here.

There is little doubt that the iPhone Fold is something new for Apple, and that could mean that its manufacturing partners need to work through new issues with its production. But with the fall unveiling getting ever closer, we can likely expect the leaks to consolidate somewhat.

No matter what happens with the iPhone Fold, Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max this September and make them available within a week or two of the unveiling. The iPhone 18 is expected to have to wait until early 2027 to be announced alongside the iPhone 18e.
