Apple’s First Foldable iPhone Just Hit A Vital Production Milestone

Apple is expected to announce its first foldable iPhone towards the end of 2026, and a new report claims that it has just reached an important milestone that fits with that timescale.

According to Weibo leaker Instant Digital, Apple’s first foldable iPhone “has now begun trial production at Foxconn.” That means that Apple has settled on the full design and technical specifications for the phone, with Foxconn working out any production kinks ahead of mass production later this year.

This is important news given the recent rumors that the so-called iPhone Fold would ship after the iPhone 18 Pro, which itself is expected to debut in September. With news of test production now being underway, a launch befopre 2026 comes to a close now seems more likely.

The same leaker also reposted information that they already shared which claimed the iPhone Fold and iPhone 18 Pro would ship at the same time, suggesting that it is still the case. With multiple reports now contradicting each other, we will have to wait and see what information comes to light as we get closer to the end of the year’s release window.

Some reports had hinted that while the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro will debut in September, Apple may make iPhone Fold buyers wait as late as December before they can pick up their new foldable device.
