A new rumor suggests Apple could be planning an unusual addition for the Apple Watch Series 12 by moving a health sensor from the watch itself into the band.

According to leaker Kosutami, Apple is testing a silicone Apple Watch band with an injection-molded sensor built directly into it. The rumor does not reveal what the sensor is designed to measure, though Apple has explored several band-based health technologies through patents over the years.

Previous Apple patents have described watch bands capable of monitoring blood pressure, hydration, sweat composition, and even automatically adjusting their fit to improve the accuracy of health readings. However, none of these ideas have made it into a commercial product.

That makes this latest claim difficult to verify. Kosutami has a mixed track record when it comes to Apple leaks, and no other reliable sources have backed up the report. As a result, the rumor should be treated with caution.
