Apple TV is the home of Formula 1 streaming in the United States, and viewers can look forward to upgraded audio soon. F1 coverage on Apple TV will support Dolby Atmos audio starting later this month.
The first GP that will include Dolby Atmos sound will be the Austin, Texas GP, which gets started on Friday, October 23.

Dolby Atmos will be present on all supported devices, with Apple arguing that it will make for a more immersive experience for those with audio systems capable of making the most of it.
Oliver Schusser, Apple VP of music, sports, Apple TV and Beats, confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter.
“If you are a sports fan today, our viewpoint is that the experience is – I’m going to be polite and say not easy. There really has not been a lot of innovation. We went into sports a couple of years back with the intention to make a difference for the customer, and this is a continuation of that journey.”
To make the most of Dolby Atmos, viewers will need to have a sufficiently capable TV, a soundbar, or a home theater setup that supports the feature. For everyone else, the F1 coverage will sound just as great — or terrible, depending on your setup — as before.
