Apple TV 6.0 Update Released: Features iTunes Radio, AirPlay From iCloud And More [Update x2]

Apple-TV

The improvements to the product will be provided partly through the use of Apple's fabulous AirPlay technology, as well as using Apple's own extensive server set. The new update now allows users to play videos from iTunes in the Cloud, which negates the need to download content at first.

In the new Apple TV 6.0 update, you can now easily view photos and videos that were added to your shared photos stream. A handy feature if you’re not a big fan of connecting cables and prefer to live wire free.

The new iTunes Music Store section lets you browse, purchase and play music all from the comfort of your couch. A great addition to those who love their music to be accessible from everywhere.

iTunes Radio is also a part of the update, which in its current form is available to those residing in the US. With millions of songs ready to be streamed, it's getting quite obvious that Apple is taking iTunes Radio really seriously.

The release of Google's awesome little Chromecast dongle and the announcement of Sony's PS Vita TV unit means that Apple now has some serious competition for their "hobby". It's time for them to get serious about the Apple TV or risk falling behind to the competition, but hopefully this small but notable update is the beginning of what's to come.

After a lot of speculation, the mythical Apple TV software update has finally been released by Apple, after keeping it in beta for a long time. The update features a lot of notable changes which we’ve outlined in this post along with the direct download links for the update.

Apple’s little "hobby" has come under scrutiny in recent weeks. Partly because of any lack of significant updates to it, but also due to the fact that Apple don’t seem to have an end game for the set top box – at least not a publicly announced one. Today’s release – dubbed as Apple TV 6.0 – should bring a little clarity back to the situation, with the company at least showing some signs of building on the Apple TV feature set by introducing a bunch of new and handy features today. The new software update brings forward iTunes Radio, AirPlay from iCloud, iCloud Photos and Videos, and our personal favorite: iTunes Music Store.
