Apple has announced that it has just had its best-ever week in terms of selling Macs to first-time users. This comes after the new $599 MacBook Neo went on sale alongside the M5 MacBook Air and M5 Pro/Max MacBook Pro.
Apple CEO Tim Cook took to the X social network to share the news. And while he stopped just short of saying why the Mac has proven so popular this last week, it’s a safe bet that the MacBook Neo had a hand in the success.

Starting at just $599, the MacBook Neo is Apple’s cheapest ever laptop, and it’s proven to be a popular device. Powered by the Apple-designed A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 Pro, the laptop also comes with 8GB of RAM and starts at 256GB of storage. The price was expected to be a key driver for adoption, and it seems that it’s helped the Mac-curious take the plunge, too.
The new MacBook Neo is on sale now with Citrux, Blush, Indigo, and Silver colors available. Buyers can upgrade to 512GB of storage, but the chip and 8GB of unified memory cannot be changed. This machine also comes with a 13-inch display and has received stellar reviews from early adopters.
Those looking to pick up a new MacBook Neo may have to wait, though. Delivery dates for laptops ordered online have stretched into April already.
