Apple’s iPhone Duo went up for preorder on Friday, October 16, and almost immediately saw its expected shipping dates fall into early 2027. Now, Apple has said that initial demand for the first foldable iPhone has been “extraordinary.”
In a statement to CNBC, the company noted that demand had been “nothing short of extraordinary,” before going on to say that it was ‘working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers’ hands as quickly as possible, and we will continue accepting orders online.”

However, not everyone who placed a preorder looks set to enjoy their new foldable phone. It’s clear that a lot of these preorders are now being sold on eBay at a profit, with sales of between $5,000 and $10,000 the norm — although prices vary depending on the storage configuration on offer.
As a reminder, the iPhone Duo sells for $1,999 for the entry-level 256GB model, with more storage available for those who choose it.
However, prices do jump up considerably when choosing the 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB storage configurations.
If you try to preorder a new iPhone Duo today, you can expect to have to wait until at least January 2027 for delivery.
However, there may be limited stocks at local Apple Stores when the device officially goes on sale on September 23.
