Apple Reportedly Planning A New Touchscreen MacBook Ultra

Apple is reportedly working on shipping a new MacBook Ultra with a touchscreen and OLEDX display. That’s according to a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Writing in the weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman says that the device that had been rumored to be a new MacBook Pro for some time, is actually an all-new laptop entirely.

Gurman says the new model will be called MacBook Ultra, rather than the MacBook Pro, and will sit above the model that currently sits atop the Apple laptop lineup. This will likely mean that the laptop will come with a price that his notably higher than even the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

That price will get a new machine with an OLED touchscreen that will make more sense attached to a model that has a new, premium moniker.

This, after Apple recently announced a laptop at the other end of the price range – the MacBook Neo starts at $599 and runs an Apple A18 Pro chip.

Further, Gurman also suggests that Apple could use the same Ultra name on future premium iPhones, such as the rumored foldable iPhone that will be available to the public later this year. Apple is also thought to be working on new AirPods Pro with health-related sensors which, again, could use the Ultra moniker.

Gurman expects that Apple will release the new premium laptop later this year.
