Apple Releases Xcode 26.3 With Support For New AI Agents

Apple has released Xcode 26.3 for developers to download, with new support for AI agents from both Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s Codex.

This release comes after weeks of beta testing for the new version which brings AI agents right into Xcode for the first time.

MacRumors reports that the new feature means that Xcode can do more autonomously, giving developers more time elsewhere.

With support for agentic coding, Xcode can complete more complex app development tasks autonomously. Apple worked with Anthropic and OpenAI to configure their agents for use in Xcode and to ensure that AI models can access a full range of Xcode features.

Agents can create new files and examine existing code within an Xcode project as well as run tests and more. In fact, the agents have full access to Apple’s developer documentation, so can reference that as they go about their work.

While the new Xcode 26.3 adds support for OpenAI and Anthropic’s agents, the update is also compatible with any other agent that uses the open standard Model Context Protocol. That means that we can likely expect more agents from other AI companies to be added in the future.

The new Xcode update is available for download by developers right now as part of their Apple developer membership.
