Apple Plans New iCloud+ Storage Upgrade Features With iOS 27

Subscribers to iCloud+ plans with at least 2TB of storage will receive access to new features in the Home app when iOS 27 update is released.

Apple has already confirmed that subscribers to the 2TB plan or higher will receive access to additional Apple Intelligence features within the Home app on iPhone and other Apple devices.

Those new features include the ability to generate video descriptions for HomeKit Secure Video cameras as well as the ability to search for camera clips. A new automatic way to surface clips of note will also be available as part of the new iCloud+ upgrade.

Now, MacRumors reports that the latest iOS 27 beta update includes the early beginnings of these new features:

According to Stephen Robles, the Home app on the fifth developer beta of iOS 27 now indicates how many HomeKit Secure Video cameras are eligible for generated video summaries. Robles told us he had a total of 8TB of iCloud+ storage (6TB plus 2TB from Apple One), and this made him eligible for video summaries for up to 15 cameras.

Apple has also confirmed that some iCloud+ plans will include increased Apple Intelligence usage limits and features, including image generation in the newly updated Image Playground app.

Apple is currently putting iOS 27 through the beta process. It’s expected to be released to the public this fall.
