Apple Makes iOS 26.2 Release Candidate Available To Download

Apple has today made the first iOS 26.2 Release Candidate available for download by developers ahead of a final release to the public. That public release is expected to take place within a week or so assuming no further issues are identified.

Registered developers can now head over to Settings > General > Software Update section of the device and grab the OTA update of RC from there.

Alternatively, you can download the IPSW file from developer.apple.com and update your device using either Finder on Mac or iTunes on Windows.

However, it’s important to remember that while this is a Release Candidate, it’s also still beta software which means that bugs could still be present. We recommend only installing the iOS 26.2 Release Candidate on devices that are dedicated to testing and aren’t required to work 100% of the time.

As for what is new in this update, those hoping for any big changes or the addition of any must-have features may be disappointed. That isn’t to say that there aren’t improvements, however.

The iOS 26.2  update introduces a new Liquid Glass slider on the Lock Screen, allowing users to adjust the transparency of the clock. Additionally, the update also brings AirPods Live Translation feature to the European Union. The Reminders app now includes alarms for task due dates, while the Podcasts and Apple News apps receive updates. Menu animations have been revamped, and CarPlay now supports disabling pinned messages in the Messages app.
