Apple’s iWatch Might Be A Fashion Statement As Company Invites ‘Fashion Editors’ To Its Event

Apple’s media event is slated to happen this coming Tuesday, the 9th of September, and amongst other announcement, the company is definitely going to reveal the larger, 4.7-inch iPhone 6. Another rumor that’s been really strong with respect to the expected product unveilings is the iWatch – Apple’s first wearable that’s probably going to function as a smartwatch, among other things. However, the elusive “iWatch” announcement isn’t as certain as the iPhone 6. but one pointer today indicates that Apple might be inching in that direction. According to Reuters, Apple is also extending invites to “top fashion editors and bloggers” for its 9/9 media event.

“Apple is forging closer ties to the fashion world as it plots its foray into the fertile field of wearable technology, trying to win over a critical crowd that may prove crucial to the success of consumer gadgets worn around the body.”

It has been suspected for a while that Apple’s iWatch – if that’s what it ends up being called – will be as much a fashion statement as it will be a gadget, and hence, will come in a number of choices for material, bands and watch faces. Today’s report of roping in fashion industry folks not only supports the earlier rumors, but also indicates that Apple sees potential in this arena, since that has largely been ignored by Apple’s competitors in smart watches.

Reuters also claims that Apple last month held a one-of-its-kind private event to showcase numerous fashion related apps to relevant people from the industry in New York. It’s also reported that Apple has held other such events in NYC as well which focused on the fashion industry. Then, the Cupertino company has also hired a number of fashion experts of the course of last year for working on special projects. Putting two and two together, we feel confident that this is all in relation to the iWatch, and we will see something that is cool in both looks and functionality.

Speaking of that, I personally would want the iWatch to be more of a fashion statement than just a gadget. There are a good number of smartwatches out there now, but the only thing that comes close to resembling an actual watch is the Moto 360. Can Apple top that? I believe so. Will they? We’ll find out soon enough.
