After going years without any updates, Apple has now officially canceled the Mac Pro lineup. The product has been removed from Apple’s website and is no longer available via its online store.
The news was confirmed by Apple in a statement given to 9to5Mac, with the company also hinting that there is no suggestion that it will make a return in the future.

For now, it seems, the Mac Studio is the computer to buy if you want the best, most performant Mac.
Before its cancellation, the most recent Mac Pro was powered by an M2 Ultra chip following its June 2023 refresh. That machine started at $6,999 which became an increasingly poor value as the Mac Studio continued to receive updates.
The Mac Studio is currently offered with an M3 Ultra chip at the high end, complete with a 32-core CPU and a whopping 80 GPU cores. It can be configured with up to 256GB of RAM and an incredible 16TB of storage. That machine is far from cheap, of course, but it’s also a machine that is incredibly capable, whether you’re working with high-resolution videos or running your own in-house AI models.

Mac Pro fans will be hoping that the tower computer will make a return in the future. But, so far at least, that seems unlikely.
